Recently, I found some good advice on this topic as I was reading through John Calvin's sermons on the Book of Galatians.

he was an early reformer, Protestant reformer and pastor. He pastored in Switzerland and also in Germany.

I actually had the chance to visit his church back in 2023, which was awesome. The first thing he does is he notes how many Christians aren't so great when it comes to taking or receiving criticism.

How do we react when people criticize us?
