will come and go. And they're really all running for vice president and they know it because you're

in the mix, right? You might be a cabinet secretary. Running for president without a chance of

winning has an upside because the residual is you build your image unless you get wiped out.

See John Edwards 2008. If John Edwards doesn't run for president in 2008, his life is not in

shambles. That sometimes can happen. But for most people running for president, Ben Carson running

for president was never going to win. But he elevated himself to be a cabinet secretary.

And that was really, really good for him. Rick Perry had a real shot at winning, but Rick Perry

probably wouldn't have been the Department of Energy Secretary, but for running for president.
