Summary

This week we’re recording on the eve of our long-awaited trip - and let’s just Louise and Ryan approach holidays VERY differently...

We chat honestly about how travelling as parents hits differently, the mental load of planning, and why even a dream getaway can come with nightmares (literally).

Louise opens up about adjusting to life with a stoma bag and how it’s impacted confidence around things like swimwear and holidays, while Ryan shares what it’s been like supporting from the sidelines.

We also finally dive into love languages and how those differences can affect us. Add in our  Type A vs Type B approach and… yes, there are clashes. One thing we do agree on - the online storm surrounding the Bonnie Blue viral pregnancy story and what it says about the world our children are growing up.

We also share where our heads are at when it comes to future family planning and the difficult decisions that come with it during uncertain times.

Brian, we're off to Antigua tomorrow.

0:02.7

Woohoo!

0:03.9

I can't wait. Are you excited? Yes. I feel like it's been nine months since we've been on a plane. So yeah, this feels quite special. It's been a while. We have been to Antigua once before. Yeah. We had to cut the trip short. I had to fly back early because I, uh, surprise, had an emergency surgery. So it slightly feels like we're rewriting history with

0:24.1

this one, creating positive memories. We're going away with my dad and his girlfriend.

0:29.4

Yeah. It's five of us. Yeah, I feel like we really need it. Yeah, I do as well. I feel like

0:36.6

it's been quite heavy, not in a bad way, but it's been quite a heavy start to the year. I started it with no management. Now I've got new management. You started off with this massive ambition at taking on government and getting the whole maternity thing moving, which you've now done and doing really well. Yeah. We've got a new family here staying relevant.

0:54.4

Yeah, we do.

0:55.1

Clothing launch is just sold out.

0:57.0

Yeah.

0:58.4

There's been quite a few other things as well that I can't think of right now,

1:02.4

but it's been good but somewhat heavy.

1:05.1

And I feel like we would really benefit from taking a short pause.

1:09.0

And I hope actually that we really can take a pause because I was just speaking to the girls next door, Annalise and Hannah. About how I really hope you can. Sorry, did you say Anna? Annalise. Oh, Anna. Oh, wait. I thought you said Annalise and Anna. And I was like, who the fuck is Anna? Oh, Hannah, Anna.

1:28.2

And I was basically, in my mind, this is going in a really amazing way this holiday.

1:37.0

Yeah, okay.

1:37.7

And I just hope that, I don't know, I don't know if it's just adult life or parent life.

1:42.6

Things never quite go as I hope they will.

1:44.8

It's like, oh, well, it's a slightly different version, but we'll roll with that.

1:48.4

I really hope that this Antigua version just like nourishes all of us in the best way possible.

1:53.7

I want like heaps of sun, laughter, no like, no like you and your dad going at it about trading stocks or something.

2:01.9

Oh, no, I'm not fucking talking about money with my dad.

2:04.3

Not in public places.
