You know, Mike, a very absolutely horrific story, but a story that we are all too familiar with as being members of the NYPD and seeing some of the most horrific child abuse cases.

And whenever you get a child abuse case, you always think this poor little innocent child, how could this have been prevented? At least that's what

I always think. And in this case, it was so elementary how it could have been prevented.

This man right here, Jake Hato, age 32, should never have been allowed around children, period.

And probably his wife, Rebecca Harrow, shouldn't have been around children either.

But as a result of my opinion, as it looks right now, negligence by the state that he, Jake Harrow, was allowed to be around children again,

to have children, and to be the father of record.

Phil, this is one of those tragic cases where, you know, you could have some sort of foresight

and, you know, and see as a district attorney or as a judge

that this guy, Harrow, doesn't have any business being with near children with what happened

with his daughter from a previous marriage who is pretty much brain dead and is blind and will never

have a life. And she'll always be institutionalized and hospitalized.

This is one of the most preventable kind of cases. But we've seen many cases similar to this where

you get a kid who's physically abused or you get some of these cases where the kid has been

kidnapped or the kid went missing.

And unfortunately, from what we've learned in our careers, is that those cases where the kid goes

missing suddenly or that there is maybe possible kidnapping, that is none of that sort.

It's the parents covering up for their own destructive acts towards the children.

But this is a really terrible, terrible case that was, to me, 100% preventable.
