0:14.7	learning what it looks like to follow Jesus by working our way through the
0:18.4	Gospel of Luke. If someone asked you, what's the gospel?
0:23.0	What would you say in return?
0:25.0	If you want to do an interesting experiment,
0:28.0	just ask your Christian friends to answer that question for you.
0:32.0	You will really quickly discover that there isn't actually answer that
0:33.4	question for you. You will really quickly discover that there isn't actually much
0:35.7	consensus on the answer. These are some of the answers people have given me.
0:39.8	The gospel is that we're saved by grace. The gospel is that we're saved by grace.
0:43.0	The Gospel is that we're justified by faith, not works.
0:47.0	The Gospel is that Jesus died so that we can go to heaven.
0:51.0	The Gospel is that our sins are forgiven. The gospel is that we need to invite Jesus into
0:56.0	our hearts. Now, a lot of these ideas are true. They're wonderful truths. We are really saved by grace. We are really justified by faith, not works.
1:07.6	But these truths, they aren't the gospel itself.
1:11.8	Some of these ideas, on the the other hand can be a little bit
1:15.2	misdirected. Jesus died so we can go to heaven. We need to invite Jesus into our
1:20.6	hearts. Now these might be true in their own way but the Bible hardly speaks
1:24.8	about them. Now other parts of these ideas that people have given me are really genuinely
1:30.0	parts of the good news of the gospel. For example, our sins are forgiven. But none of these
1:36.1	things that I said are the gospel itself or by itself. At least they aren't the
