Summary

You've probably heard about this phrase, "DINK Lifestyle"...it stands for "Dual Income, No Kids".

This is a lifestyle that some couples are choosing to live, whereby they prioritize work and income and doing whatever they want, without the "burden" of kids.

This is a selfish, anti-family, and very sad way to live, and it's vital that we put forward a more compelling vision for the future so that we save as many people as possible from going down this path of regret.

Jeremy is joined by Robert Bortins, CEO of Classical Conversations, to talk about the SILK lifestyle..."Single Income, Lots of Kids".

We talk about why DINK is so destructive, the underlying philosophy behind it, and how to create a real vision for flourishing.

On this episode, we talk about:

1:08 DINK vs SILK

3:59 Promotion of certain lifestyles

9:37 What's wrong with celebrating DINK?

there is no more destructive attitude that will make it hard for those who are having children

0:04.9

and grandchildren than to have all of these people who are saying, I'm going to consume those things

0:08.8

in my life. And I'm not going to pay forward or contribute anything to the future. Because if I do

0:13.8

that, I can consume more in my lifestyle. Again, don't celebrate it. Like, this is not good. It's not a good

0:18.9

thing to celebrate. It's not equal to somebody who's

0:21.7

raising a family and doing the hard work to honor their ancestors to do something that's actually good

0:26.2

for the future and actually helps for their future flourishing.

Everybody, welcome back to the podcast. I'm here with Robert Bortons. Robert, thanks for

0:36.0

jumping on here with me today.

0:43.7

Hey, excited to be here and excited to talk to your audience about some important stuff that we need to get out.

0:50.6

Absolutely. Yeah, so Robert and I, we, so I was on Robert's podcast. Robert is the current CEO of classical conversations. His mom started at about half of the homeschoolers I know are

0:54.9

classical conversations students and and tutors. And so our kids went through it. It's amazing,

1:02.1

amazing. But we've got a much bigger. And one of the things I love, Robert, that you're stirring up is

1:06.1

like we got to talk about sort of the cultural state of the family. This is what family teams is all about.

1:12.0

This is what we're always trying to understand. What is God's design blueprint for the family

1:15.2

and how are we as a culture deviating from that? So Robert tweeted something, I think last

1:21.7

week, maybe a week or two ago, that really caught fire on X and we posted family teams, and it got hundreds of thousands of views.

1:29.8

So I just wanted to take a step back and just that would be fun for Robert and I, just to have a quick convo about this topic, just to zero in on this, because I think this is something that really is worthwhile addressing.

1:39.8

So I'm going to read what Robert wrote on X, and then just kind of talk a little bit more about this.

1:46.5

Okay.

1:47.1

So you wrote dink sounds cool, but your lineage will end and the last years of life will be filled with regret.

1:57.6

Silk is the new wealth.
