Almost 26 million people visited Barcelona last year to see the

Sagrada familiar to watch flamenco shows and to visit the Gothic quarter in the

city center where Marty grew up. The architecture there is amazing and the bars and restaurants are always packed.

It's been a touristy area for decades, but about 15 years ago, people who live in the neighborhood

started to notice a change.

Strangers were coming and going from apartment blocks.

They were letting themselves in with keys that were left in

padlock boxes.

Many people started to have a lot of problems in their buildings produced by touristic

flats, touristic apartments, parties, noise, and of course to see different neighbors

every week, two or three times, different people that come here for holidays, they don't have any

care about the building because it's not their home.

These tourists weren't staying in hotels.

They were using what were then new holiday rental sites like AirB&B.
