The choice the Jets make with the second pick in the NFL draft will tell us whether

Aaron Glenn and Darren Mugi value proven pass rushing or better rounded upside more at the edge

It's tough to believe, but we are only a week and a half away from the beginning of the 2026 NFL draft. And on today's show, I'm going to discuss three key issues the Jets face heading into the draft. I'll explain why picking Ty Simpson in the second round does not make him a less risky choice for the Jets. I'll explain why the Jets need to upgrade at wide receiver,

but they also need to be cautious with how they do it. And I'll discuss what the second

pick in the NFL draft will tell us about Aaron Glenn and Darren Mugi's philosophies.

And that's where I will begin. Of course, there's been a lot of discussion about this second

pick since the Jets clinched it following their season ending loss to the Buffalo Bills.

And for a couple of weeks, it seemed like the discussion that would dominate the offseason would be

whether the Jets should pick a quarterback second overall. And then Dante Moore of Oregon returned to school.

And from that point, the discussion mostly turned to edge rusher. Now, of course, there is a large group of people,

myself included, who would love to see the Jets trade down from this pick because I just don't

think this is a normal crop of players who the Jets have the option of picking at number two overall.

I think normally when you've got a top two pick, you either get a quarterback or you get

what's considered a can't miss pass rusher. You get a truly, truly elite prospect, somebody who has a good shot of being an all pro. And I'm talking a Nick Bosa, Joey Bosa. I know Joey Bosa went third overall, but that sort of prospect, a Miles Garrett, a Chase Young, even though he was a can't miss prospect who actually kind of missed.

There isn't really that level of prospect in this year's NFL draft.

And it feels like the debate has come down to David Bailey of Texas Tech versus R.V.L. Reese out of Ohio State.

And this point in the calendar is kind of my least favorite time of draft season.

And that's because people

have kind of come to their own conclusions and they're really dug in on their opinions.
