What's up everybody? Welcome into the next Pat's podcast. I'm Phil Perry, very excited to bring to you this week's episode where we're delving into our second in our series of three podcasts on the three pieces in terms of what are the most

important elements to surround a young quarterback with in order to allow that young

quarterback to blossom and to grow in a healthy environment.

Last week, we took a look at the playmakers and the Patriots.

If you'll recall, if you're a fan of the podcast, maybe you're not anymore based on that ranking, but the Patriots ranked 31st overall out of 32 NFL teams in terms of their running back, tight end, and receiver rooms combined, and just the talent that resides in those rooms.

We're removing the quarterback from that equation.

We're removing the offensive coordinator from that equation,

the head coach, the offensive line, even, et cetera, et cetera,

just to focus on the talent in those rooms.

Again, we're trying to figure out what exactly the Patriots have been able to put around Drake May

and what kind of situation they've put him in going into year two.

When it comes to those playmakers, not a great place to start. When you're debating whether or not

you should have the Patriots at 30 or 31 versus the Cleveland Browns led by Jerry Judy. Great

year last year, but it's Jerry Judy. It's not where you want to be. And I went into my explanation as to why I had the Patriots there based on where I see Stefan Diggs going this season and what I think of realistic expectations for Diggs. He's going to be 32 this year. He's coming off an ACL injury. At that position, history of players coming right back and being number one types just

isn't great. It doesn't mean he can't do it. It just means for me it's a really hard thing

to bet on. So the second P after playmakers that we want to dig into here is our play caller

rankings. What kind of play caller do the Patriots have in Josh McDaniels for their young quarterback?

And where does he reside?

On the list of 32.

And I think you might be pleasantly surprised as to at least where I have Josh McDaniels.
