It is the Jets buy week, but it has been an eventful by week as the team fired general manager Joe Douglas on Tuesday.

Douglas's tenure with the Jets was ultimately unsuccessful.

And today we're going to explore why Douglas's tenure was unsuccessful.

Because if you go back to 2019, when the Jets hired Joe Douglas, there was an incredible

amount of optimism around this franchise.

And it went well beyond just the normal optimism you get when you hire a new general

manager.

I think unless you hire Adam Gase, whenever you hire a new general manager or head coach,

there's a honeymoon period.

And there's always that period where the new guy can do nothing wrong except Adam Gase again.

And the fans think, the fans are just convinced that the new guy is going to lead you to glory.

That always happens.

But it was different with Joe Douglas because Joe Douglas had universal acclaim from the national media, from the local media,

pretty much everybody in the know thought that Douglas was going to be the next great general

manager in the NFL. And it simply did not happen. And I think it's worth exploring why the Joe
