0:18.7 | Now, our context is we're living in a difficult time, a time of extremity, |
0:24.0 | a storm. And COVID-19 has changed our world as we know it. It's changed our work, our families, |
0:32.8 | and our churches. There's so much movement going on in our churches, really, around the world. |
0:36.7 | And this is still unfolding a year and a half later. |
0:40.2 | And so there's a sense where God's drawn so much of the global church to the end of herself, to a time of extremity. |
0:47.7 | And so this storm that we are in is not going away right now. |
0:51.8 | And so this podcast today, why Jesus draws you to the end of yourself, is actually one |
0:56.7 | of the next two or three I'm going to do, really speaking to you is leaders, paratrochurch, |
1:02.4 | whether it's parochurch, pastoring, marketplace, leading your family, your community. |
1:07.6 | We've got to first lead ourselves so we can provide leadership and influence to those around us. |
1:13.9 | And it's not just simply the pandemic. It's the speed of change that has just accelerated around |
1:19.3 | the pandemic. And it can be quite dizzying. And I talk to leaders often. And I think there's a sense |
1:24.4 | of frustration, overwhelmness, dizzying sense. |
1:29.7 | And so one of the great gifts that we can give those around us is perspective. |
1:34.7 | Another way of framing what God is doing in this storm in which we find ourselves, |
1:40.5 | us seeing God, and then helping others to see him as well. |
1:44.4 | And so these next few weeks I want to address this from different angles. |
