Hi, my name is Pete Kizzerra.

I want to welcome you today to the emotionally healthy leader podcast.

Great to be with you.

Our title today is why Jesus draws you to the end of yourself.

Why Jesus draws you, and actually all of us, to the end of ourselves.

Now, our context is we're living in a difficult time, a time of extremity,

a storm. And COVID-19 has changed our world as we know it. It's changed our work, our families,

and our churches. There's so much movement going on in our churches, really, around the world.

And this is still unfolding a year and a half later.

And so there's a sense where God's drawn so much of the global church to the end of herself, to a time of extremity.

And so this storm that we are in is not going away right now.

And so this podcast today, why Jesus draws you to the end of yourself, is actually one

of the next two or three I'm going to do, really speaking to you is leaders, paratrochurch,

whether it's parochurch, pastoring, marketplace, leading your family, your community.

We've got to first lead ourselves so we can provide leadership and influence to those around us.

And it's not just simply the pandemic. It's the speed of change that has just accelerated around

the pandemic. And it can be quite dizzying. And I talk to leaders often. And I think there's a sense

of frustration, overwhelmness, dizzying sense.

And so one of the great gifts that we can give those around us is perspective.

Another way of framing what God is doing in this storm in which we find ourselves,

us seeing God, and then helping others to see him as well.

And so these next few weeks I want to address this from different angles.
