Summary

There is no magic button or one single ingredient in the recipe for success. So often, grit has been attributed to much of the success that the elite in our society has experienced. But what if I told you that there was something else that could be key in the pursuit of your goals and dreams? What I am hinting at is this thing called willpower. Willpower is the yin to grit's yang. In this episode, I'm sharing how focusing too much on one thing can increase your risk of stress and anxiety, and the three simple things you can do to start flexing your willpower muscle.

What's In This Episode:

Avoiding getting caught up in the vicious cycle of grit

Using willpower to help you recover quickly from setbacks and maintain motivation in pursuit of your goals

Building up your willpower and grit without burning them out

0:47.9

help bring us closer and closer to our ideal version of who it is we want to be. So today, I want to dive into what is often the

grit. Grit, grittiness, mental toughness. It's become a word that seems to come into the limelight a lot more lately.

1:13.6

Grit's one of those things that's been attributed for much of the success that the elite in our

society have experienced. Besides sheer talent in any given area, grit is often held up as the

that we just need to be stronger or we need to keep going until we just wear ourselves out to be

1:53.5

a success, it's just not true. But it's treated like it's this magic ingredient to get us to the life that we want.

2:03.5

The one little key we need to unlock all the doors that have been shut to us.

2:09.4

Grit.

2:10.5

I feel like I've come across more articles, more posts from people glorifying the importance of having grit all the time lately. And I get it,

2:21.0

we're kind of obsessed with the idea. Somewhere along the line, we have convinced ourselves that if only

2:28.4

we had more grit, if only we were tougher or more thick-skinned, we could handle the road before us.

2:35.8

Somehow, if we just had more grit all of our existing problems, at least those surrounding
