With that, let's get into the Word of God.

On Sunday mornings, we're going through 1 Corinthians, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

Last week we finished chapter 10, and today we'll begin in chapter 11, and verses 1 through 3 will be our text.

So once you find you way there, if you're able, I'll ask you to stand. You can follow

along with me as I read. First Corinthians chapter 11 beginning in verse one. The apostle Paul

by the spirit of God writes, follow my example as I follow the example of Christ.

I praise you, verse 2, for remembering me in everything

and for holding to the traditions just as I pass them on to you, but verse 3.

I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ. And the head of the woman

is man. Okay. Nobody got hurt there. We're good so far.

And the head of Christ is God.

Let's pray, if you would, join with me.

Loving Heavenly Father,

we are keenly aware that passages like this are here for a reason that passages like this are for our instruction

even our rebuke if need be but every word in your word is in your word for a reason.

And so Lord today, would you minister to us that reason

and speak into our lives as you do?

We're listening.

So speak, Lord, we pray.

today's teaching will be part one of a new series I've titled why God's ordained authority

is so important now before we jump into this, I have to confess that I have not been looking forward to 1 Corinthians chapter 11. If we didn't teach through the Bible expositionally book by book and chapter by chapter and verse by verse, I have to admit that I would just be very willing to skip the chapter that is before us.
