Our eternal security is based on real living interaction between the Father and the Son of prayer

and of working our glorifying of the Son and now of tending somebody to help us and to keep us in the absence of the Son and now of sending somebody to help us and to keep us in the

absence of the Son. So those of the three arguments laid on the table of the judge or our

father why he could engage himself now to keep us in his name. What guarantees that God will never let us go in this episode of

light and truth John Piper opens John 17 9 to 13 where we find the foundation for our

unshakable hope this instruction was originally delivered on a Sunday evening at Bethlehem Baptist Church

on February 9, 1986.

Piper begins by examining the reasons why the Father keeps us.

There's three reasons here.

Let's just look at them briefly one at a time.

First reason, Father, why I'm praying for those who you've given me that you would keep

them in your name is that they are yours.

Now I don't Father need to imply that the years and not mine.

Because all things that are mine are yours and all things that are

yours are mine, I don't, I mean, that's the way I hear this. These two sentences right here, 10A and 10B,

are just a way of saying, don't misunderstand me, you who are overhearing this. All of this is for

our sake, you see, the father knows already everything that's in the son's mind,

but all of this is for our sake.

When he says that those whom the father gave to me

were the fathers, it doesn't mean that they're not his.
