| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Keto and Interminute Fasting Podcast, where Dr. Berg takes you on the journey for the truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weight. |
| 0:12.0 | I had an interesting question from someone that wanted to know why do I get so angry and irritable when I start fasting. |
| 0:29.4 | It's a legitimate question and quite a few people have this happen. |
| 0:33.3 | And I want to talk about exactly what's going on. |
| 0:35.3 | There's actually three main types of fuel |
| 0:38.9 | that your body actually runs off of. |
| 0:41.3 | You got sugar, you got ketones over here, |
| 0:44.5 | and then you have fatty acids, okay? |
| 0:47.1 | So when someone lowers their carbs and sugars |

| 1:16.3 | And in the process, you might feel more irritable when you fast. |
| 1:19.6 | You might feel angry, edgy, not very friendly. |
| 1:25.0 | You might have a low tolerance to stress. And this is all occurring because of two |
| 1:29.8 | things happening in your body. One is the years of insulin resistance is making it difficult to |
| 1:36.9 | get any glucose in the cell because you need insulin to absorb glucose. And so if you have insulin |
| 1:43.3 | resistance, you're not pulling in glucose. |
| 1:46.2 | And then when you go in a low-carb, low-sugar diet, now you're really going to be low on glucose. |
| 1:50.6 | So you're going to be dependent on ketones and fatty acids. But the problem is your brain is |
| 1:57.5 | the only organ that can't use fatty acids. It can only use ketones and glucose. Well, you haven't |
