I'd like to talk about something we share in common, the United States of America, our country.

All of us who are Americans belong to it as she belongs to all of us.

The most important statement written on paper conceived in the mind of a human being

as a declarative political statement was this revolutionary assertion that broke open a new age, a new epoch in human dignity and freedom.

Here are the words, all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain

inalienable rights, which include life, liberty, and the pursuit of

happiness. These words were a rupture in history, and they lit the world. In time, the dignity of the human being innate, God-given, could not be contained.

And so this concept spread, and it included more and more people.

King looked out at a crowd of hundreds of thousands, and he declared that he

had come to collect a promissary note. The United States of America is the only nation in the world

founded on the power of an idea. The idea is what I just said. It's the only country in the world made up of all the peoples of the world, where every

language is spoken every day.

At the foundation of American life, at the core of how our society functions is an election, where the citizen chooses

through participation, who shall temporarily lead the country, who will go to the Congress

and assemble and work with Americans from diverse backgrounds, diverse geographies,

to strengthen the Union, to make it more perfect. The polling today that has been released is deeply troubling, and it's very frightening.
