Moment of Um comes to you from APM Studios. I'm Laura LaRue, the Lullaby lady.

Um.

Hmm. Hmm. Oh, well, hello there. Are you searching for a sleepy time song? A drowsy ditty? A lovely lullaby. You've come to the right person. They don't call me the lullaby lady for nothing. You ever heard of Rockabye Baby? That was me. Ro, row, row your boat? Me.

Claire D'Loon. Okay, that one was Claude Debussy, but he absolutely got the idea from me.

I'm the queen of quietude. And today, I'm working on my greatest challenge yet. A lullaby for kids who get sleepy in the car.

You know, the low rumble of the engine, the vibration of the tires on the road.

It's the perfect setting for a modern lullaby.

My new muse, I don't know why cars make some people sleepy, though.

And my friend Sanchi was wondering the same thing.

So the idea is we get sleepy in the car

because the car is moving, right, in a very rhythmic manner.

What we know is when a baby is in the womb,

the first, first, sensory experience that he will, she will experience, is the rocking movements.

Hi, my name is Oroar Perrault, and I'm a researcher in neuroscience, which means that I studied the brain,

and most specifically the brain when it sleeps.

So the baby is in the womb of mommy, which move.

And so this is the first experience you will ever feel is the rocking.

And so this creates such a very strong link between rocking and the brain.

And this is why when you are in a car and it goes in a rhythmic manner, you start to fall asleep.

And so what we know is, for example, animal as well, when they get rocked, they fall asleep faster.

They fall asleep, they go into bed deeper.
