Free speech is under fire today, and Christians should care greatly about this reality.

This is not something that Christians should ignore.

It's not something we should think matters for people in political

matters, but not us. This has relevance for every Christian, because if we lose free speech,

if we lose the first of our two constitutional amendments that come at the very beginning,

then we are in dire straits as citizens. In fact, one of the major reasons why the gospel has gone out

with such power and efficacy in America is because America has historically very much promoted

and honored and protected speech, free speech, as we call it. You don't have speech codes that

limit what you can say. You are not barred from criticizing public officials. You are not held back from sharing your religious convictions, your most deeply held beliefs. We have really a free market, an open market when it comes to speech in America today, and that is a huge part, I repeat myself, of why the gospel has gone out with

such power from this country. America is not the hero of all history or something like this, but we

need to be very clear. There's a massive reason why there are so many sound churches in America

and why America has sent out so many missionaries over decades and even centuries, a huge part of that

reason is free speech. But free speech, as I say, is imperiled today. I want to give you five

thoughts on free speech. And I want to urge you to care about this reality. And then, as I'll say,

towards the end of the podcast, I want you to be actionable on this reality. I want you to take

action as best you can to try and preserve and protect and promote free speech. So five
