Well, we're back in controversy land in evangelical circles.

A recent ad for New St. Andrews College in Moscow, Idaho put out on social media, said this, young men wanted,

0:22.3

must be willing to hoist the Jolly Roger and Johnny Cash's favorite finger whenever faced

0:27.3

with idolatry. The favorite finger that is referred to there is the middle finger, which is, of course,

0:32.4

a very serious swear word in American culture. We talked about this yesterday in some depth. Why is this an issue

0:40.7

that New St. Andrews and Moscow and Canon Press and related entities, and I assume persons, are

0:47.9

promoting the usage of the middle finger. Why is this okay? You'll recall if you listen to that

1:29.4

it in particular for the rising generation because there are a lot of young men and young women

1:34.4

who are tracking with Doug Wilson and Moscow generally in its institutions. And they have been

1:40.0

encouraged by the kind of countercultural joy, that spirit, that serrated edge, so-called,

1:46.7

that has come out of Moscow in the last five years or so or even beyond that.

1:51.2

And they're looking to Moscow, and they're looking to these institutions and to Wilson himself

1:56.1

as a kind of guide because, as I said, a good number of evangelical leaders have sort of, at least

2:02.7

to a degree, lost their voice with regard to a countercultural spirit that is marked by joy.

2:09.9

And so there were a lot of folks who went silent in momentous matters in the last roughly three
