0:14.4	This week the Catholic Church celebrates the great feast of the exaltation of the Holy

0:19.7	It comes every year on September 14th.
0:21.3	I love this feast day.
0:22.8	This is one of my favorite feasts in the fall season.
0:26.3	I love particularly how it comes here in September about six months from Lent.
0:31.1	So it's like on the opposite side of the liturgical calendar, we have this opportunity to
0:34.7	zoom in on the cross because surely we think about the cross all throughout the Lenten season.
0:40.1	But we're supposed to be pondering in thanking God for the mystery of the cross all throughout
0:45.9	the year.
0:46.9	And so it's great that the church gives us this opportunity to focus our attention on the mystery,
0:52.3	the power, the triumph of the cross.
0:56.0	And that's what I want to look at today.
0:57.2	I want to look at the rich history.
0:59.1	Do you know the history behind this great feast day, the great miraculous finding of the cross
1:04.6	by St. Helen and Jerusalem.
1:06.2	I love to take pilgrims right to the spot where we're St. Helen, Constancy and his brother
1:10.5	found the cross in 320 and tell about that story today.
1:13.2	I'm going to tell about the Basilica that was built there.
1:15.4	And then I want to offer some reflections on the mystery of the cross itself as a source
1:21.6	of strength and encouragement for our own lives.
