I can highly recommend this week's Four Corners episode called The Silence, which I know you've watched as well,

which is about the fact, fascinating fact, that there's never been an AFL player presently playing

or even since playing AFL that has come out as publicly game.

I had no idea until that was like the early line and I was like, what?

A couple of days after Matildas

when we've seen how inclusive a sport can be. Yeah. So I first turned on out of interest because

it's like, oh yeah, that's weird that that's never happened. But it actually made me feel kind of sad

that there's still in 2023 an area of society that is overly masculine. And this is a sport that I love so much, to the point where people don't feel safe to come out and be who they are.

My brother's boyfriend is in the documentary. He was one of the – yeah, he was one of the first footballers at any level, at amateur level to publicly come out.

I can't even imagine the courage to do that. You think about now, there's no openly gay

football players in the future. Imagine what that was about. Whereas the NRL is very different,

isn't it? Yeah, well, I mean, it actually points it to every sport in the world. It's essentially

has some kind of representation. It's the only sport code in the world with no openly gay players.

Why is that?

Yeah.

So Jason, who's my, uh, Jason Ball is his name.

He was the first player at any level to come out as gay while he was playing footy.

And he started this thing called the Pride Cup at, yeah, at Glen Footy Club.

I've been, um, down to their Pride Cup rounds and they're amazing.

And he's trying to advocate for a whole pride round throughout the NFL.

Yeah.

Because I think it is a shame that there's, I mean, the documentary essentially says there are gay players and there were gay players throughout history.
