Welcome to my humble abode.

I've got a pretty sweet spot here between the cracks of the sidewalk right next to the playground.

I've been here for almost two weeks and every day I get to see kids come to play.

I like to keep tabs on who's been winning at Four Square.

Has Susie learned to swing on her own yet? And how can William hang upside down on the monkey bars for so long?

It brings me joy. I'd like to think I'd bring them a little joy too. I mean, how could I not? I'm so bright and yellow, like a little ray of sunshine. And I have petals. So many petals. I'm a gorgeous little flower. But lately, I've been hearing some rumors. Apparently, there's some people who don't take too kindly to my presence.

Well, they think I'm a weed. And here's the thing. I don't even know what that is.

But it sounds rude. And it's thrown me into a bit of an existential dilemma.

I spent my whole life thinking I'm a flower but maybe I'm wrong

maybe I'm wrong.

Maybe I'm this weed thing.

Who am I?

What does it all mean?

My buddy Lily was wondering about this too. Why is some flowers considered weeds and others not? A weed is anything that is growing that we don't want to be growing in a certain area.

But there are some plants that produce a lot of seeds and compete with other crops, but we actually

want that crop.

And so we would then not consider a weed in that space. So a weed is something that's

competing for space and soil nutrients from the crops that we're trying to produce.

So many weeds have to flower in order to produce the seeds
