I've been practicing my typing lately so I can be super duper

efficient when I write the latest chapters of my new adventure novel. One, two, swashbuckle my shoe.

It's about a swashbuckling pirate slug who takes to the high seas to find treasure and glory.

It's got secret codes, hidden maps, pits full of crocodiles, you know, just typical adventure stuff.

But with pirate slugs.

I'm writing it out on this old typewriter I found at a thrift store.

I just love the clickety clack of the keys and that little ding when I get to a new line.

Ah, so satisfying. But you know what's kind of strange? My typewriter keyboard isn't in alphabetical

order. And it's the same thing on my phone and my computer. So instead of going ABCD, it starts with Q-W-E-R-T-Y. Quarty? Is that some sort of

secret code or something? Stella Raina had the same question. Who came up with this jumbled-up letter

arrangement?

And why do we use it anyway?

The typewriter inherited what telegraph operators needed.

And now, today, we are inheriting what the telegraph operators needed.
