Welcome to Inside the Hive. I'm your host Nick Bilton. So we're going to jump straight to the point here. Earlier this week, AOC, also known as Alexandria Ocassier Cortez was being interviewed on stage and someone asked her about climate change and her response inflamed the Republican Party in a way that I haven't seen in quite some time.

She said that if we do not address climate change in the next 12 years

that the world is going to end. They of course took this literally because that's just kind of what they do

and they said that she was being ridiculous and hyperbolic and so on but what

AOC was really trying to get to was that we have about 12 years to fix the problem

of climate change or we will suffer the consequences indefinitely.

And so I decided this week that we should have an expert on the show to talk about just

that.

My guest today is Peter Brandon.

He's an award-winning science journalist whose work has appeared in the New York Times, the

Atlantic, the Washington Post, Wired, and the Boston Globe,

Slate, you name it.

He has a incredible book out called The Ends of the World,

Volcanic Apocalypse's Lethal Oceans in our quest to understand. of the extinctions that have happened over the last several hundred million years and how

they are pretty analogous to what is going on today with what's happening with

climate change. Stick around after the show to hear John Kelly and I talk about what's happening inside
