We are witnessing history being made tonight, folks. The presidential election has been called

and Challenger, John McCain, has been defeated by Barack Obama.

Imagine it's a Tuesday night in November and you're sitting on your living room sofa with your

parents. On a normal school night, you and your sister would have wrapped up your homework

hours ago. You would have eaten dinner with your parents, and just about now, you'd be getting

ready for bed. But tonight is anything but a normal night. It's election night. Barack Obama

has just won the election for president of the United States. The television set is blaring

and images of people crying, hugging, and celebrating flash on the screen. At 11 years old,

you know that today is an important day. The politics have always seemed pretty boring,

so you haven't really been paying attention. You look at your parents,

we're beaming with joy. Why is everyone so excited? I don't get it.

Instead of answering, your dad points to the screen. Look, he's about to speak.

You shrug and look around for the popcorn bowl. Is it back in the kitchen?
