tracked by the producer price index

rose two-tenths percent between May and June.

The increase could get passed on to consumers.

We learned yesterday that consumer prices fell in June.

We'll see if that reverses. A Wall Street Journal

survey of economists finds most think a second Trump administration would make

inflation worse. Trump's promised across-the-board tariffs could raise prices

for many items and a further crackdown on immigration the inflation weary consumer. In earnings reports, the companies say their ability to

raise prices has hit a ceiling as shoppers look for bargains. The

International Monetary Fund says it believes the Federal Reserve is getting

ready to cut interest rates.

In remarks yesterday, two Fed officials expressed optimism that inflation is on a downward

trajectory.

Another official signaled the need for more data.
