If you are young enough that you were totally aware of the stuff that was going on in 2008,

then you probably remember the publication of a book called My Stroke of Insight by a

woman named Jill Bolt Taylor.

This book really changed a conversation that we were all having about the brain and

about spirituality, what scientists were beginning to understand.

Because Jill Bolt Taylor is herself a Harvard-trained and published neuroscientist.

In 1996, she experiences severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain, causing

her to lose the ability to walk, to talk, to read, write, or recall any of her life.

Her memoir, which was that book, My Stroke of Insight, documented her experience with

that stroke and an eight-year recovery period.

The book spent 63 weeks on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list, and now she has
