Now, he's retired from a 27-year career as a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

He spent most of his career conducting homicide, child abduction and drug trafficking investigations.

For the last seven years of his career, he was a supervised for a special agent assigned to the

behavioral analysis unit or the BAU at Quantico, Virginia. While at the BAU, he was responsible

providing behaviourally based operational support and training to federal, state, local and international

law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation of child abductions, mysterious disappearances of children,

child homicide and child sexual victimisation. Many families out there, many parents out there,

we all talk about that stranger danger. And actually, principal cases of child abduction are not

those strangers. This is Australian true crime. We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land

My process, usually what I'm involved in these cases,

is a process of elimination. So, you know, we start off with, do we have a runaway, depending on the age of the child and the factors in the case? Do we have what do we call a miscommunication, which is, you know, the child is, say, getting off the school bus and I told her mother the night before that, you know, hey, I'm going to go home

with a friend. Mom says, yes, that's fine, forgets about it. The child doesn't come home.

The child's actually at a friend's house. And now the mom doesn't know why the child didn't come

home, calls the school, you know, so on and so forth and says, yes, she was on the bus, and now

she reports the child is disparate. We call that miscommunication. So if it's not a runaway or
