Hello and welcome to the 538 Politics Podcast. I'm Galen Drake. Before we begin, I wanted

to take note of the events in Buffalo over the weekend, one of the deadliest racist

massacres in recent US history. It's a tragedy and my thoughts are with everyone affected

by it. Today, we're going to preview the biggest day of primary season so far. Five states

are holding contests on Tuesday, May 17, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Idaho, Kentucky, and Oregon.

The most anticipated races are the Republican Senate and gubernatorial primaries in Pennsylvania.

We'll talk about everything going on there. We're also going to give you a heads up about

other races to watch around the country, including the lieutenant governor of Idaho challenging

the sitting governor for the Republican nomination and representative Madison Kothorn's time

to face the voters after numerous scandals. We're also going to introduce a new project

we're working on here at 538. In the coming months, we're going to be working with Ipsos

to poll Americans about the issues they care most about. And we're approaching it from

a bit of a unique perspective, which we're going to discuss. The first poll coming out

this week is all about inflation. So here I'm going to need to talk about it all. It's
