Today's 10-minute walk is happening for me, at least, under clear skies.

There is, as far as I know, no threat of rain this morning.

I think we've got a possibility for some thunderstorms later, but at the moment I am umbrella-free. Motivation is sometimes just feels

really elusive and sometimes we'll use whatever we can get to get motivated to do the thing

that we have committed to doing. Whether it's exercise or work or something that we

don't want to do, something that we're feeling less inclined to do. We're looking for that

motivation, that spark of something to get us moving in the right direction. For me, and I don't

think I'm alone in this, every now and then,

when I am looking for that motivation, when I need that, that extra spark, I think about

people who inspire me. By far, my biggest inspiration is Ava, my wife, in so many areas.

In so many areas.

But particularly fitness and exercise, my wife is a beast.

I could, and probably have, told lots of stories about her,

but probably the one that is most inspirational

happened three weeks after breast cancer surgery. She had signed up for, she's a runner,

she had signed up for a half marathon in Massachusetts. We lived in Maryland at the time.

And she had signed up for this months ago, might even have been the year before.

It's been on, it was on our calendar for a long time.

And then the cancer diagnosis, and she had surgery, it was outpatient surgery, but it was still surgery.

And three weeks later was this race.

And her surgeon said, you're free to run. You might be sore, but you are free to run.

There's no health concern, there's no medical concern why you can't run in this race.
