Today, the great Lebanese bank robbery.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to meet a bank robber.

She was about five foot tall in her late 20s, wearing fluffy slippers.

Her name is Sally Halfnes and as we walked to her office in the Lebanese capital, Bebru.

She pointed to a line of people waiting to use a cash machine.

See those guys waiting to get their money? She told me? I don't do that.

I asked if she spoke English and she said yeah a little.

I feel like hell, I'm fine.

But she preferred to tell me her story in Arabic.

The story of how one day in September, Sally had taken a gun and a bottle of petrol.

She had gone to a local bank with a few accomplices.

Inside, she pulled the gun out.

She told everyone to back off and demanded tens of thousands of dollars in cash.

She took the petrol and splashed someone herself in a rounder.

Just so the people inside knew how fast she was willing to go,

to burn herself in the whole place down if she didn't get the money.

Which she did, forcing the bank manager at gunpoint to give her $14,000 cash before she fled.

What Sally did has become infectious here in Bebru.

The situation unfolded and the Lebanese capital Bebru,

a customer had gone to the bank to withdraw his money.

The banks would not let him.
