Where countries came up with new, deeper cuts to their carbon emissions to keep global temperature rises to 1.5 degrees or less by the end of the century.

Progress that could have been cemented and celebrated at this year's COP summit starting on Sunday in Egypt.

Right now, every government in the world is off course.

Everyone of the 20 largest economies of the world that represent 80% of all the emissions are off target at this moment.

Instead, according to Guardian Environment Correspondent Fiona Harvey, it's been a year with progress unravelled.

There's no much greater difficulty in the path of countries that want to move forward on the climate crisis.

There's also a lot less money available.

People are in the midst of a cost of living crisis.
