Welcome back to Girls Camp.

Today's episode is really important to me,

and I'm doing things a little differently this week and I am

releasing it in two parts. So you get two episodes of Girls Camp this week.

Today's episode, Part 1 is today, Wednesday, as usual,

and then I'm going to release Part 2 on Friday.

The reason that I decided to split this episode into two parts is because I sit down with

one of my dear friends, Maddie Thompson, and we talk about the passing of her father,

death and grief and loss, what that has been like for her as a

deconstructed Mormon.

It's just such an important subject matter, and Maddie did such a phenomenal job at really speaking to what

her grief has been like. It's a little bit longer than usual so I wanted to just split it into two parts and make sure that we could give the right amount of time and space and energy to this subject matter.

As you can imagine, because the subject matter is death

and grief and loss, just a trigger warning right off the bat.

We are talking about all of those things.

We talk a little bit about suicidal

ideation. We talk about her father before he died in the hospital. Just want to

give you kind of a clear picture of what we're going to be talking about, so you know what you're getting into.

I also wanted to say, and we talk about this in depth in course of the episode, we talk about death and grief in a very different way than I feel like I talked about death and grief as a Mormon.

Basically there is not a lot of sugar coating here and I'm so appreciative to Maddie.
