| 0:00.0 | Hey friends, I'm Rachel Grohl and I'm your host for the Hearing Jesus podcast, where I help you to know God and to make him known. |
| 0:11.7 | Have you ever noticed when people are meeting for the first time, adults, that one of the first questions is what do you do? |
| 0:20.7 | Well, have you ever had to explain who you are without saying what you do? |
| 0:25.2 | It's harder than it sounds because many of us are quick to describe ourselves based on our roles. |
| 0:30.7 | I'm a teacher. I'm a mom. I'm a student. A nurse. |
| 0:34.6 | But what happens when someone challenges us with a deeper question? Who are you really? |

| 1:26.5 | Because when he's asked to explain his identity, he didn't say, I'm John the Baptist, the |
| 1:31.6 | prophet, or I'm the voice of revival. |
| 1:36.2 | He said, I'm not Jesus. |
| 1:39.2 | And I think that posture of humility is what made room for Jesus. |
| 1:43.7 | And so we're going to be walking through |
| 1:44.9 | the second half of John chapter 1 versus 19 through 28. And this is the passage where John the |
| 1:50.7 | Baptist prepares the way for the Messiah. And so we're going to take a look at his interactions with |
