President Trump changed his tune about an Iran ceasefire.

It's Thursday, May 28th. Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

Number one. U.S. forces carried out a strike on an Iranian drone launch site early this morning.

Military officials said the U.S. struck the site after shooting down four attack drones

near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran said it launched a retaliatory strike targeting a U.S. airbase

in Kuwait. It's another test of a fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran and of ongoing peace negotiations.

In a cabinet meeting yesterday, President Donald Trump insisted he had maximum negotiating power

with Iran and was not under political pressure to make a deal.

The money has no value. Their whole economic system is broken down. They thought they were going to outweigh me,

you know, we'll outweigh him. He's got the midterms. I don't care about the midterms.

Trump also said that if Iran did not make the concessions he wanted, the U.S. would, quote,

finish them off. And Trump appeared to criticize the nation of Oman's negotiations with Iran

over possible fees on ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

Oman will behave just like everybody else who will have to blow them up. They understand that.

They'll be fine.

Trump's comments come in sharp contrast to those by administration officials over the weekend,

who said that a deal with Iran was 95% there.

President Trump's approval rating is plunging among his white working class base.

That's number two.
