This week, as we continue exploring the topic of white Christian nationalism, it's important

to know that this belief system is not merely a religious ideology that's rooted in

racism and beliefs in the myths of white supremacy. It's also a political ideology. According to Brad

Ashney, host of the podcast, Straight White American Jesus, Christian nationalism is an ideology

that is based around the idea that this America is a Christian nation,

that it was founded as a Christian nation and therefore it should be a Christian nation today

and should be so in the future, which means that despite the fact that the Constitution

doesn't actually mention God and the Constitution does require the separation of the church

and the state, white Christian

nationalists don't really care.

And if you missed my previous episode where I discussed white Christian nationalism with Dr.

Anthea Butler, a well-known professor of American social thought, the chair of religious studies

at the University of Pennsylvania, and the author of many, many books, including white evangelical racism,

the politics of morality in America.

You should also know that in the phrase white Christian nationalism,

the emphasis is on the whiteness, not the Christianity,

which means white Christian nationalism could also

be described by another phrase.
