Live from the United States, where the law is far too often the crime.

The foundations of law in the United States come from English Common Law,

as right-wing constitutional constructivists always point out using the law as a cudgel to silence any dissent from their reactionary legal opinions.

But there's a problem with common law when it comes to those conservatives and liberals

as well who support stand your ground laws, which give anyone who is in fear for their safety,

the right to shoot, potentially kill because they are afraid. English common law did not support

We now have the right to defend ourselves of deadly force.

However, like all rights in the United States of America, that right to defend yourself is enforced unequally along race, class, and gender lines.

Worse yet, stand your ground laws do not make the U.S. any more safe.

through a federal law. Proponents want us all armed in taking law into our own hands as judge,
