Summary
When she was 12, her dad and new stepmom moved the family into an older house that never felt quite right. She chalked it up to horror movies—until the very first night she babysat and heard a violent crash, like metal slamming against metal… twice. Nothing was out of place. No explanation.
Six months later, while her parents drove two hours away to a casino, she stayed behind with the kids. At 2:30 a.m., the dog’s barking snapped her awake—and then she heard footsteps in the hallway. In the dim glow of a closet light, she watched her stepbrother move between rooms again and again… until he stopped in the doorway and stared at her. She called his name. No answer. She shouted again. Still nothing.
Then she yelled one more time—and her real stepbrother suddenly “woke up” from bed, confused, wearing only underwear… even though the boy she’d seen was fully dressed.
Years later, she found the pillow she used as a comfort “protection” object—started telling the story… and watched that pillow end up across the room, on a chair, where she swears she never put it.
