And then our scriptural text today comes from Jeremiah, chapter 6 and verse 16, hear the word of the Lord.

The Lord said to his people, stand at the crossroads and look, and ask for the ancient paths and where the best road is, walk in it, and you will live in peace. But they said, no, we will not.

You may be seated. I'm speaking today from the subject, which way should I go? Which way?

Which way should I go?

This is Jeremiah, the prophet that is speaking to the rebellious nation of Israel.

I know we mentioned that the Jews are God's chosen people, but they were rebellious people.

God had so much trouble with them.

I meant they're the ones who wrote the history.

We wouldn't know the stories if they didn't record it. I'm thankful that they recorded it because

it reminds us of our own humanity. And if this was God's own chosen people that had trouble

staying on track, we don't have any more trouble staying on

track than they did but they had trouble staying on track and it becomes a

prophetic picture of our having trouble staying on track and so God was giving a

message to them letting them know listen you're at a crossroads.

He said, stand at the crossroads and I want you to look and observe something.

And he says to them, ask for the ancient paths where the best road is.

And then he says, walk in and then you'll live in peace.

And they said, no, no, no, no, we're not going to do it.

They were rebellious.

At least they were honest.

But it's interesting to me that they were not ashamed nor sorrowful for their stubborn ways against God.
