It is Monday, December 16th, 2024. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day.

Number one, where is the CR? Number two, the confirmation schedule on the hill this week. And number three, Congress drones on about drones. Let's get into it.

Happy Monday. Just a programming note, Punch Bowl News only has AM editions this week. This was a schedule

that we said at the beginning of the year.

And we will have text messages, special additions as they are needed. We imagine both

will be needed this week because the government runs out of money on Friday, Friday night at

1159 or Saturday morning at midnight at 12, I guess that would be. Here's where we are.

This leads us perfectly into the top of the newsletter this morning. Where is that CR? The speaker

Mike Johnson told us last week he had expected the CR to be released yesterday. Yesterday was Sunday, December 15th. Federal agencies,

again, run out of money on Friday. We don't think there's going to be a government shutdown.

It's a no one's incentive to have a government shutdown. But the 118th Congress, everything has been

slower and dumber than it should be.

So let's talk about where we are.

The main issue has been a late push by Johnson to get economic assistance to farmers as part

of the one-year extension to the farm bill.

The extension is supposed to ride on the CR.
