Summary
The Super Bowl (or should we say the Bad Bunny halftime show, featuring football) is coming up this weekend. While there aren’t any openly trans people participating in the competition, Imara chats with this week’s guest about where trans people fit into one of America’s most popular sports, especially since it has long been a space dominated by hyper masculinity.
First, Imara chats with Justine Lindsay, a former cheerleader who made history as the first openly trans person to cheer in the NFL. Then, Karleigh Webb, an LGBTQ sports writer and recreational football player shares what roles gender and gender identity play in football and how we might think about them in the future.

| 0:12.1 | trans stories to save trans lives. Well, it's Bad Bunny, I mean Super Bowl weekends, where so many |
| 0:19.4 | of us will have our eyes glued to this global sporting event. |

| 1:10.0 | on and off the field. I was like, listen, |
| 1:12.8 | at the end of the day, yes, I am a trans woman, but at the same time, I can also get down with a |
| 1:17.4 | get down and I can show out just like everybody else in this room. Next up on the show is Carly Webb, |
| 1:22.3 | an LGBTQ sports writer and recreational football player. She shares what role gender and gender identity |
| 1:29.1 | plays in football and how we can think about football in the future. For many people on the |
| 1:35.2 | conservative right, sports is seen as the last bastion of us holding the line. Because let's be real |
| 1:42.5 | about where we are, even with all the backlash. The fact is, they've lost the culture. But before we get into Club, which is focused exclusively on strength training for trans people in Philadelphia. |
| 2:18.3 | What started out as a hobby in her bedroom quickly grew into a community with an expanded mission |
| 2:24.3 | to include fat liberation and disability accessibility. |
| 2:28.3 | It's been going on for more than a decade. |
| 2:32.3 | From powerlifting to kettlebell training, |
