Where do you draw the line with charity?

I was in Chicago a few years ago with my husband, my daughter and her fiance.

We went to Giordano's for pizza.

Anyway, we ordered way too much food and the pizza when it arrived was like two inches thick.

We'd had so many starters that we could only eat one piece each of the two pizzas, so we got to go boxes.

As we were walking along, this woman came up and told us she was really hungry and could

we help her out giving her some money?

Well, we didn't have any cash on us, but we did have this still warm pizza.

We offered her one of the to-go boxes, but she got all insulted and told her she didn't

want our goddamn pizza.

She wanted money.

We told her to F off and went and found a homeless guy who was

more than happy to take our pizza and thanked us profusely while enjoying a slice. Yeah, I've met

homeless people who get all indignant because I offered them something besides money. I've met

homeless people who I have given money and they have the audacity then to turn around and say,

give me more. I'm also surprised

this person is all like, and the pizza was two inches thick. And it's like, yeah, isn't that the

whole thing with Chicago pizza? It's, it's thick. I was in a bicycle shop getting a repair done and

some lady in her 20s came up to me and asked me to buy her a bike. I am not very prosperous looking, so I cannot imagine what she was thinking. She was early

20s with a European accent. I thought she might be Dutch or Danish, but I'm not knowledgeable

about those things. She looked more like a traveler than a tourist, and she just made a little

small talk about the bikes and how expensive they were. And then, quite seriously, asked me to buy
