0:06.5	serial killers and of course it fascinates the culture people love their Ted Bundy stories or
0:12.6	their Zodiac killer or their John Wayne Gacy stories and I want to start with a question
0:18.8	when did serial killers peak in the United States? The amount of serial killers at large at any
0:26.5	given time, when did the number of active serial killers peak in the United States? I'm going to go
0:36.8	83. Okay. Well, I have a more general. It's basically the 80s, so you're right. I don't know
0:43.6	if it's particularly good here. But 70s, 80s and 90s is when the serial killer numbers were at
0:50.9	its by far the highest. So I named a few Ted Bundy, Zodiac, John Wayne Gacy. Who can you think of
0:57.4	as a famous 70s, 80s, 90s serial killer? Actually, the easiest way to go is by Marilyn Manson's band
1:03.4	because he's got like Ramirez, right? Green River killer. Oh, yeah, Green River and BTK, BTK.
1:12.8	The Zodiac, Zodiac, Jeffrey Dahmer, Golden State Killer. All right, so how many serial killers
1:20.8	operated at any given time in the peak in the 80s, so that the number of serial killers that the
1:27.6	United States was like, we know of this many serial killers that are at large right now. I'd say
1:34.3	the FBI probably had a list of like 30 serial killers. 770. Oh my God, that's scary. Right?
1:42.8	That's so scary. Right? That's crazy. That's crazy. So it was only the tip of the iceberg that
1:49.1	you would hear about. Right. We would hear about, when you think serial killer, you think of the
1:54.3	big ones, the famous ones, and you think, okay, at any given time, yeah, okay, there's probably more
2:00.9	that you don't hear about, you know, and so you think at that peak, you're thinking 30 at the most.
2:07.3	770 known serial killers at any given time in the 80s, and they would piece it together by like,
2:15.5	okay, we, like the Green River killer, how they know that that was one person while the protocol
2:20.0	was the same. Right. And so seven hundred descriptions, almost a thousand. Wow. Yeah. I mean, I guess
2:28.1	the definition of serial killer is that they've killed multiple people. And that could be, I guess
