Today's scripture offers us a wiser way of being human as we step into the day.

There is a kind of exhaustion that comes from doing too much, and there is a deeper exhaustion that comes from feeling responsible for too many people, too many emotions,

too many needs, too many outcomes. Maybe you know that kind of tired. The tired of being the one

everyone comes to, the tired of holding your family together, the tired of leading, managing,

remembering, anticipating, soothing, solving, the tired of being

competent. And somewhere deep inside, a part of you is saying, I cannot carry this anymore.

Today's passage gives us an honest picture of Moses when he was at just this point. He is leading the people of

Israel through the wilderness. The people are complaining, they're hungry, they're dissatisfied,

and Moses reaches a breaking point. As you hear today's passage, I want you to listen for the

mercy of God toward an overwhelmed leader who finally tells the truth. Today's scripture is

number 11, 10 through 17. Moses heard the people of every family wailing at the entrance

to their tents. The Lord became exceedingly angry and Moses was troubled. He asked the Lord,

why have you brought this trouble on your servant?

What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me?

Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms

as a nurse carries an infant to the land you promised on oath to their ancestors. Where can I get meat for all these

people? They keep wailing to me. Give us meat to eat. I cannot carry all these people by myself.

The burden is too heavy for me. If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and

kill me. If I have found favor in your eyes and do not let me
