Summary

Husbands are called to be the spiritual leaders for their family’s but when you don’t feel close to God it can be hard to be the spiritual leader that your wife and kids want you to be. Many Christian men find their relationship with Christ to be a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. Just as the children of Israel served God with all their heart one minute and built a golden calf to worship the next, our closeness to God at times seems to ebb and flow. Join host Jerrad Lopes as he discusses the ups and downs of a Christian man’s walk. If you are feeling far from God this episode is for you! Host: Jerrad Lopes Scripture references: 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Romans 3:27 Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. Luke 17:33 Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it. Connect with Dad Tired: To subscribe on iOS, go to our iTunes page and subscribe. What's up guys? I'm Jared Lopes and you're listening to the Dad Tired Podcast, where I'm helping

everyday families learn how to follow Jesus and everyday life.

0:19.9

One thing that's really popular in Christian culture is to kind of ask people what their story is

0:25.0

or what their testimony is for, you know, if you want to use kind of churchy terms, what's your

0:30.1

testimony, what's your story?

0:31.5

We hear that kind of terminology and phrase all the time in the church.

0:35.3

And every time I've told my story to somebody like in the church

0:39.8

or when somebody asked me, what's your testimony? There's even been formal times when somebody

0:44.8

said, hey, will you share your testimony at church? And I have. Every time I do that, it's different.

0:51.4

And sometimes I struggle with that because I'm like, man, why is my story always changing? Why is it always so different? And I'm not like making stuff up in my

0:58.1

store, but it's just, it's constantly evolving. I often refer to my own life, like the Israelites.

1:04.3

If you are familiar with the story in the scripture of Moses leading God's people through the

1:09.0

desert for 40 years. Through that journey,

1:13.2

the Israelites, it depends on what page you turn or what chapter you turn to in the Bible.

1:17.5

Sometimes in their journey, they're like on fire for God. They're trusting God. They're believing

1:23.2

in God. They're worshiping God. They're delighting in God. They're have faith in God.

1:27.8

They're remembering God's faithfulness to them. And then literally like the next page or the next chapter,

1:33.8

these same people have made a golden calf and they're worshipping a God that doesn't exist

1:38.8

and they're mad at God and they're rebelling against God and they're mad at their leaders

1:42.3

and they're mad at everyone. and they're mad at everyone.

1:47.1

And they're just like all over the place in their spiritual journey.

1:53.4

And I often can relate to that because my story, whether if you asked me to share my testimony or my story today, it probably would sound different than it did even six months ago or a year
