You love them, but you can't fix them.

Oh, how you've tried.

You've listened and you've offered advice and you've sent articles and you've made suggestions

and you've been patient.

You've done everything you can think of and nothing changes.

They're still stuck.

They're still hurting.

Still making the same choices that keep breaking them.

And you're starting to realize you can't save them.

No matter how much you love them, no matter how hard you try.

They have to save themselves.

Loving someone who won't help themselves is one of the hardest things you'll ever do.

Because you see it. You see the person they could be if they just tried right if they just went to therapy if they

just set the boundary if they just left the situation, if they just believed in themselves.

You can see the way out. It's so clear to you, but they cannot see it. Or they won't.

Or they're too scared to walk toward it. And try as we do.

We can't make them.

So you stay.
