Summary

One of my goals has always been to take the word "vegan" out of the box called "vegan." My goal is constantly thwarted by

*the overuse of the word vegan

*the use of "vegan" to refer to people as well as food

*the attempt by some vegans to narrow the definition and make the word "vegan" refer to every social problem that exists in the world

If you call yourself vegan or have ever been told you can't call yourself vegan, this episode is for you.

1:43.6

overusing the word vegan, and I want to elaborate on that here. We say vegan, vegan, vegan,

1:51.4

everything, vegan ice cream, vegan cake, vegan lunch, vegan restaurant. I'm vegan. I've often

1:56.0

choked that to demystify what vegan is for non-vegans, we don't say vegan banana, right? We

2:02.5

2:07.3

of this, non-vegans are guilty of thinking only vegans eat vegan food when in reality. It's also

2:13.8

vegans who perpetuate the idea that vegan food is its own food group. If you pay attention,
