Summary

Today’s guest is someone who brings fun to the sport but isn’t looking into breaking a world record. Liz Miele is a seasoned marathon runner, a stand-up comedian at Comedy Central including “Live at Gotham”, she’s been on “Late Night with Conan o’Brien” and Access TV. She’s been featured in many press publications like the NY Times, Time at New York and the New Yorker, winner of the 2008 Gilda’s Club contest and a finalist at the 2008 March Comedy Madness.

Many of the guests I get are based off requests on the survey I did at the

beginning of the year before we relaunched the podcast. One of the requests was for a comedian. At the time, I thought that was a bit

silly. It was like, why would I get a comedian on a running podcast? But it was only recently

when we began the challenge Wardian hashtag, where I thought about how fun it would be to have someone on here who makes people laugh for a living.

I began searching the comedians who ran, and what I came up with was a mockumentary, yes I did say that right, called I'm a runner. I watched the video and I loved it. I knew this was who I wanted to bring on and as I researched her more and more I found running was not just about being out there doing it but what it brought to you outside.

She did not claim to be fast, she did not claim to be better than anyone else,

but she just loved to run and fit in her pants, those are her words, not mine.

It reminded me of one of those popular requests for the guests on the show,

more everyday people. If you could see me now, you would see that I'm using air quotation marks,

as I'm not sure there is really such a thing as an everyday person

but I know what people mean when they say that. Liz was just what I was looking for
