I'm your host, Corey Musgara, and in today's episode, we're going to talk about what happens when Plan A isn't an option.

More to come on that in a moment, but first, let's settle in with the sound of the bells. D' So what do we do when Plan A isn't an option anymore?

Well, let me tell you about someone who works with a lot of people who no longer have their

plan A.

Chris Futner is a pediatrician, and he focuses on improving the lives of children with complex

chronic conditions and the lives of their families. Unfortunately he often has to

have conversations with parents that he describes as the most difficult of their lives.

In these scenarios, their deepest wish cannot be granted, which is that they're going to lose their child.

As he sits with them and processes this reality with the family,

eventually at the appropriate time he'll ask,

what else do you hope for?

At first it's nearly impossible to imagine anything else other than for their only wish, which is for the child to survive and be healthy.

But in time, the parents might say, we hope that he's able to spend as much time with his

family as possible and for as long as that will be possible.

Chris lessons and then responds.

That's something that we can make sure of.

What else do you hope for?

Parents might think again and eventually respond.

We hope that we can all deepen our love together in the time that we do have together.

That feels really important to us.
