you know how it is like at some point this really gets in your bones and and then the book

I'd been thinking about a long time.

Storytelling is not reserved for actors.

It is not reserved for the elite.

We are all empowered to tell our own stories.

And whatever version, we decided to do that, a book, a memoir, a stage, around a campfire,

but most of us are not doing it and it's killing us.

So I started thinking about, you know, when I wrote Operation Pineapple Express and we did

that, we were one of many groups that did rescue, I don't even like to call it a rescue because it was it was more of a collaboration effort to try to get our allies out.

And we didn't go overseas.

We didn't.

But the work that these veterans did with our Afghan allies, who were the real heroes.

As I started to work that story into my bones, you know what?

Like if I go tell this story to a group of veterans, now I'm the helper and they're the

beneficiary.

And there's this beautiful evolution that happens.

That's what I call the generosity of scars when we can repurpose our struggles in the service
